The Golden Globe Race 2022 is proud to support SITraN, the University of Sheffield’s Institute for Translational Neuroscience, as its charity of choice for this year’s race.
SITraN is one of the world’s leading centres for research into neurodegenerative disorders such as Motor Neurone Disease, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
Opened in 2010 by Her Majesty The Queen, SITraN brings together experts in a range of interconnected neurological disease areas into one team, in one location, to pioneer new treatments that improve the lives of patients and their families.
It is an international centre of excellence for basic through to applied research in neurodegenerative disease, taking promising, emerging therapies from the lab, and translating them into practical treatments to be used in a hospital setting.
We are thrilled to be associated with this prestigious event. Your support and awareness-raising will drive our research effort to a new level for the benefit of patients with neurological conditions. Donations enable us to develop exciting discoveries, emerging from basic neuroscience research, into experimental medicine studies aimed at developing new treatments and better outcomes for our patients. The real beauty of this page is that it makes donating from anywhere in the world simple and also allows people to click on a button where they can set up their own fundraising page for SITraN as a result of their connection with the GGR 2022.

SITraN Challenge Charity Race
On 14 August 2022, ahead of the start of the 2022 Golden Globe Race, all competitors will take part in the SITraN Challenge charity race. The SITraN Challenge will commence from TBA, and mark the start of retracing the steps of the original Sunday Times Golden Globe Race.
