No change in position on this 39th day with Simon equidistant from Trindade Island and his closest competitor, Abhilash. The 2018 veteran has his best week since the start: best daily averages in the fleet and absolute distance record over 7 days, shaving 215 miles off Simon! Only Tapio seems to be keeping up with him as the leaders’ course is shifting eastwards, a sign of easing winds.
Behind them, Damien, posts the 2nd best 24-hour distance of the fleet upwind in confused seas, maintaining his 100-mile lead over Cpt Guug, Ertan, and Jeremy. Guy, 10th, has now joined the tail end of the pack in the south leaving the last three to their tragic fate in the other hemisphere.
Up north, in the ladder game, Arnaud is doing OK gaining about 50 miles on Ian, glued to the 3° parallel. Elliott to their SE, is still unaware he’s the next one out: he is arriving on 2° north and will be the first one to get fresh wind later today, which the other two will get only tomorrow.
