The times, they are a-changin’
Kirsten’s leadership at the head of the fleet is seriously under threat from a jubilant Abhilash, who is sailing close-hauled at over 6 knots on a very northerly course to 340° in the now steady trade winds. Queen Kirsten, however, is still whipping along, albeit at 5 knots only in a lighter breeze on a more westerly breeze, being now 50 miles ahead of Abhilash at 1200 UTC. Long live the King?
Simon (CH) in Chichester Class is playing the perfect Jester to the court: Clara is about to overtake Minnehaha while keeping Bayanat at a bay(50 miles). Even when tinkering with curtains for Clara, Simon is still performance cruising! Captain Gugg is 750 miles behind the leaders and now entering the very narrow doldrums off Brazil, on a shorter route. The bargain of the week?
Jeremy (CH) went from downwind in sunny weather to reaching with squalls, but still in the sun. This is not enough to spoil his enjoyment at sailing in normal weather after his intense gale-force ride up from the south. Ian (CH) shared his incredible Patagonian adventure on the safety call yesterday, maybe the best moment of his round the world trip? He clocks the best performance in the fleet today. Go Puffin!
